Many people have experienced the loss of an idea or thought simply because they didn’t have something with which to record it. Start carrying a pad and pencil or a mini-recorder. Whenever an idea, thought, or task comes to mind, jot it down or record it. You may think of a solution to a problem that you’ve been working on, and you’ll have it recorded so you can work on it at a later time.

Use Lists

Many people try to do too much in one day. Create a daily list of two to three tasks that you can complete. If you actually completed those tasks early in the day, make another list with more tasks. Completed tasks and lists will make you feel very productive, and that is one of the main parts of productivity — feeling productive. You will also produce higher-quality work when you work in smaller quantities.

Exercise and Eat Healthy

Creating Summer Traditions with Your Grandchildren

If you have grandchildren but feel you aren’t as close to them as you’d like, one thing you can do to resolve that is to create some yearly traditions during their summer vacation from school. Here are some ideas for traditions.

Grandchildren Camp

Every year, do a grandchildren camp. Invite your grandchildren to come visit for a week where you’ve planned activities. It’s best if you have a theme, such as Hollywood or Dinosaur Adventure. The activities and food would correspond with the theme. It would require a lot of preparation, but would be something that the grandkids look forward to every year and would be something they would always remember. By having it be a camp, you could have all the kids stay in a tent outside, which would mean you wouldn’t have to worry about having enough beds. The camp would give the kids a chance to bond with their cousins as well.

Trip with the Kids

If possible, depending on your budget, a trip with just one or some of the grandkids would be a great way to bond as well. Without the parents there, the kids will have a chance to get to know you better and you’ll be able to be closer to them by having a chance to share stories of your childhood and learn what their favorite activities are. Be sure to check with the parents before planning the trip to find out what the kids like to do for fun so you can be sure the trip will be enjoyable for them.

Different Types of Sports Betting

“The times, they are a changing.” . . . Do these words sound familiar? If so then maybe you are part of the good old days when placing a bet at least meant you got to enjoy the event upon which you wagered. Doesn’t necessarily have to happen anymore; actually, more often than not, bets are placed by people hundreds or even thousands of miles away from an actual event.

Online Sports Betting

Now it is possible for us to use the internet and bet on just about anything we want. Sports betting has become very popular. You can bet on football, baseball, basketball, cricket, tennis, horse racing, greyhound racing, and yacht racing. You can see that the options are just about endless. People from all different walks of life participate in online betting. Some families even make it a tradition to bet on certain events such as the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl.

Good Site/Bad Site

All sports betting sites are not created equal. Some sites are really good and serve their users well. Others don’t do what they claim to do, have poor information or are just bad sites. There are sites set up to review and recommend trustworthy sites to those interested in sports betting. Choosing the site you use can really determine what type of sports betting experience you have.

Which Type Is for You

There are mainly two types of bets in sports betting: match up betting and betting to win. One requires a larger event or tournament, the other doesn’t.

There are lots of options if this is for you; choose wisely!

Does a College Degree Mean a Better Life?

Those who go to college and earn a degree are likely to have a better career, which can lead to a better life. Each person is different and college is not for everyone. However, if you have the ambition and drive to create a successful future, college may be the first step.

Why College Matters

When it comes to getting a college education, find opportunities at EarnMyDegree.com. Look at the number of different programs available. Then, consider what earning one of those degrees can mean to you.

  • Those who get a college degree may get better benefits from employers. Employers may offer jobs with higher benefit levels, including life insurance, retirement benefits, and better health packages.
  • Those who have more of an advanced degree have better job security. If your career is in a highly specialized area, chances are good there are fewer people who can do it and, thus, you are more in demand. That creates job security for you.
  • According to statistics, parents with better paying and more advanced jobs provide a better life for their children. You are more likely to be able to pay for your child’s college education, too.

Employers consider those who have a college degree more serious about their futures. Now that so many career training and degree programs are available online, there are more reasons than ever to get your education. While not all successful careers require a college degree, people who do have these degrees tend to do better financially throughout life. This could be the right way for you to advance your future, and perhaps improve your child’s future down the road, too.

Beginner’s Guide for Charitable Giving

Giving to charity is an important decision whether it’s your first time or your 50th. You want to make sure that you are giving your hard earned money to a charitable organization that will honor the sacrifices you’ve made to give by making sure the maximum amount of money gets to those who need it most or can do the most with it. This guide will walk you through the process and help you make the right decision for your first charitable donation.

  1. Decide on a cause. This is the easy part for most people. Almost everyone has a cause that is near and dear whether it’s domestic violence, cancer research for children, Alzheimer’s research, or even playground equipment for needy children. It’s easy to find a worthy cause you just have to settle on the one that speaks volumes to you right now.
  2. Research charities that address your cause. You want to know more about them than just what causes they work with. You also need to need to know how they use the money they are given, how much of the money given actually gets to the people in need or those doing the research, and where their efforts are focused (local, nationwide, or worldwide for example), and if they are a non-profit organization like Kars 4 Kids.
  3. Pay the organization a visit. If you can’t drive up and knock on the door, then visit their website to learn as much as possible about the people that make the charity work.

These three steps can help you find the right cause and organization for your charitable giving today and in the future.

The Lifestyle of Keeping Up

Keeping Up With Our Joneses

Image via Wikipedia

It has been said that once a family escapes from having to live hand to mouth, their primary motivation in life is to keep up with the proverbial Joneses. While there might not be a family on their block named Jones, the desire to be at least on the same level as one’s perceived equals is a central theme of the human experience. While everybody wants to keep up with others, sometimes the price is a dear one.

When you strive to keep up with someone else, you start to live by their standards. This is the antithesis of being self-actualizing. While it will drive you to attain certain worldly accomplishments, ultimately having a manicured yard and a nice new car every couple of years will only really be enjoyable accomplishments if these types of things are what you really want in life. If they aren’t, you’ll just end up working very hard to feel like you’re accomplishing very little. If that’s how you want to live that way, be prepared to be mediocre.
